Question about AR-type Lower Receivers

a general question - I've been told by more than one person that there is very little real difference in quality between most manufacturers' lower receivers.

I'd like to know what any who are interested might have to say on the topic, especially if you can provide characteristics of one receiver vs another that makes it better (or worse..)
