How far out should the BB be sticking out? It is currently about 1/4 from lower receiver to edge of BB. Is this enough, or does it go in further? I can't seem to get it in any further than that..

That sounds about right. I remember mine stuck out a little further than I thought it should.
EDIT: I just measured mine and it sticks out a 1/4" too.Last edited by MilSpec.45; 05-28-2007, 2:38 PM."The price of freedom is eternal vigilance."

Just use some sandpaper and smooth off the bump, then you can drop it in. The original ones had no bump at all and dropped right in. Darin added the bump because there was a concern that if you pulled the button out of the well against spring pressure, then tilted it and pushed it back in the mag would drop free.
He claims to have solved the problem at its root (bigger hole or de-burring or something) but also added that press fit feature should you want to use it. Personally I ground it off, I'm not hosing up my mag button hole. I wrapped the bottom with *very* thin kapton tape and then tapped it in, it's pretty tight.

I got it in okay, but probably used a little too much loc-tite. It doesnt work as smooth as I would like.
Oh well it's my first build so I am learning. I guess I can try and unscrew the nut off later, if not I will have to cut of the mag catch on the other end and start over.
By the way I didnt have to file anything, I just put it in at an angle to start and tapped it in.Comment
