    AR scope.

I've been looking at the Leupold AR scope - best price to pay and where? Also now thrown inot teh mix is the Nikon M223 series. Anyone got any experience with these? I will not be shooting the AR out to any further than 500 yards so if anyone has any other idears for around the $300 mark I'd be happy to hear them. I have a heavy barrel 1:7 twist 20" upper, and an RRA scope mount / rings which is slightly canted forward.

I have the Nikon M-223 2-8X optic. I did a range report on the gunsnet forum:

Read that range review and did some research. Sounds like the Nikon could be a good bet. My worry would be that the RRA forward canted scope mounts will sit the thing too high, though I guess it does have to clear the charging handle.

I have the Leupold 3-9 Mark AR and it's pretty badass. I had never really used or looked through a decent magnified scope before, so I was pretty shocked to see how clear and bright it is. Works exactly as advertised. Zero it at 200-300 yards and it gets even better. I love it. I love it so much that I will now be trying to find a new home for my Millett DMS-1. and replacing that with a micro red dot to partner with the Leupold.

The RRA forward high rise mount and the Burris PEPR mount look somewhat similar to the mount that Nikon engineered for the M-223 line. I think you'd be okay with whatever high rise mount you choose. Mine is mounted on ultra high (1") Burris Xtreme tactical rings.

For sure he'll be OK. I have mine in the Burris mount and it sits in exactly the right position. It looks like you'd have more room to play with if you used the Nikon mount, though.

I have the Leupold Mark AR 3-9 BDC with ADM q/r mount on my Armalite 20" s/s upper. With this setup I was still able to put those low profile BUIS. Check how low the Midwest SPLP rear sight is from my pic below.

You can get the 3-9 with BDC for ~$280 shipped @ Gander using code GME1010. Regular is $349.99. Just add any 1 cent filler to reach the $350 threshold.

I got these Leupold covers too from Midway because they complement the scope nicely These are metal and they are screwed in.
