Did you get the bolt open all the way, but the round is still stuck in the chamber?

What's bad about the round that you couldn't fire it off at the range?

Bolt would not close, had to fight it back open.

I'd try putting a wooden dowel down the barrel and beating it with a mallet from the muzzle end.

Lock her in a vise. remove the bolt. stick a wooden dowel in the bore..HAMMER IT. stand to the side. The dowel should push the bullet into the case rendering the round 1/2 way harmless...1/2 way i said. still treat it with respect, keep the barrel pointed in a safe direction and stand to the side of the firearm.

B yond and dieselpower have the right answer,
I have also removed them at the range with a small flat screw driver in the ejection grove of the case and pried them out
the screw driver may make a mark on the end of the barrel, but it might be faster

Another reason to add to the list of why you don't force rounds into the chamber. When it won't chamber your rifle is telling you something is wrong.
