Making a M1A look evil is stupid if it compromises the rifle's functionality. Of course, I would go with a removable magazine over a fixed magazine any day.

Clearly if you are forced into a fixed magazine situation, the M1A is a perfect choice because of the open top design and the integral stripper guide. A removable magazine is slower than a stripper in the m1a since you have to remove the empty magazine and then install a loaded replacement. The ideal would be an enblock system like the garand that holds 10 rounds. I would love a medium weight semi auto scout rifle in 6.8 grendel that used the garand enbloc system.
If statists were consistent in their evaluation of human nature, they would be giving away ammunition with condoms for free in schools.

It's far safer, and will make the gun last longer if you close the gas port up instead (really easy to do on the FAL, turn the knob ).

To fix the magazine to "allow" you to put all the gadgets on the rifle is putting form before function to me, but to each their own.

According to the California code of regulations, a "detachable magazine" means any ammunition feeding device that can be removed readily from the firearm with neither disassembly of the firearm action nor use of a tool being required.

With the latch disabled, I can fix a 10 round magazine on the rifle. With the magazine fixed, I can add all the evil features you want.

This concept is similar to the bullet button, but instead of using a tool to detach the magazine, you take apart the action or you can top load. Tell me what you guys think. I really think this can work.
Sounds like a waste of a $1300+ rifle.

To the OP, its your money and you can do what you please. But like everyone else here, I have to agree its a waste of money that doesnt do anything for the rifle except make it heavy (ier?), your wallet lighter and makes you lose the ability of changing magazines easily.

Assuming you want to go the Sage or JAE route, if you can swing that much coin, you might be better off keeping the M1A as is and build up a tacti-cooled OLL. On second thought, its probably better to use the extra money to buy a lot of ammo and shoot the hell out of the M1A.
