Optic Advice for my FNH PBR .308

I have a black FNH PBR .308 fluted barrel, hogue molded stock and a harris bipod on my set up currently. But I'm not very knowledgeable in the scope/ optics area. I was looking into something in the neighborhood of 6-10x50 but definitely open to any suggestions (since I'm a scope noob). I have about $200 dollars I'm willing to invest with and have been looking at OpticsPlanet.com extensively.

I personally am only knowledgeable with holographic sights, red dots etc. This is my first bolt action rifle and would like any feedback

I would suggest looking at Midway in part because they list customer reviews. Take them as info, not as gospel because you don't know their frame of reference - a fellow who has used $29.00 Tascos all his life may marvel at a fuzzy $100.00 scope while someone trashes a $200.00 scope "because it's not as good as insert expensive brand here". Also, check out SWFA. I like them better than Optics Planet because if they say it's in stock it's really in stock.

Burris, Leupold and Nikon have entry level scopes but I don't know if they give enough magnification for you. I have a Burris Timberline in 4.5 to 14X on an Encore and it works well. Off the top of my head Mueller and Nikko Stirling are less expensive brands that have worked well for me but Mueler has short eye relief.

Weaver makes their 40/44 series and I think that might be a safe "best bet".

Thank you for the feedback. I was looking at the Leupold scopes but definitely out of my price range, unless Proforce has them on sale or I find an online dealer with a decent one for no more than $400.

Optics Planet is nice for details about the scope's size, weight and dimensions. After you find what you like, go over to SWFA for better pricing.

For your price range, I recommend you take a look at Nikons.

Look at the swfa brand 3-9 or 10x with side parallax. Both great scopes for those on a mid level budget.
