Model 721

Hi everyone. New to the site. I am a gun enthusiast and an avid hunter. I have a couple questions that I was hoping to get answered about a Remington model 721. My grandfather bought a number of these rifles in the early 70's and only two were ever used by him. I ended up inhereting a couple.
I would like to upgrade with a 700 BDL stock and trigger group. I know this is possible but what I was wondering is if there is a way to convert it to a detachable magazine? They are all 30.06 caliber. The factory stocks leave much to be desired. One more question, will a 700 bolt fit the 721 action? I would like to use the 700 bolt, trigger and trigger guard so I have to do the least amount of stock mods as possible. Thanks for the help.

I have a model 721 in .30-06 that my Father gave to me a number of years ago. I converted it to a detachable magazine with a product by Kwik Klip that at the time cost $49.95 (about 1980 or so). A quick check on the web indicates they still make the product, but they are now in the $110.00 area, but may be cheaper from some sources.

They fit the model 700's and say some minor inletting may be needed on a model 721. As I recall it was not a major issue.

The stock from a model 700 will need some work to fit a 721 as I recall, as the older rifle had some different receiver and barrel contours?

721 30-06 are not worth much, 700s a bit more.

I have modded a 700 stock to fit 721, had to shave a bit for the safety, had to hog out a valley for the rear sight boss, remove a tiny bit for bolthandle

They were well made rifles. I would just use it as is. There is no real need for the removable mag. Some of my rifles have it and some do not. No real difference in a hunting situation.

if you sell it i would buy it. I used to have one with a threaded barrel. I regret selling the gun.
