    Installing Samson Free Float

I will be installing a Samson Free Float onto my Stag 2H Upper today. I have read the instructions from Samson and Troy which is pretty much the same. I am a little worried about using my dremel to cut the delta ring, but I am still sober at the moment so maybe it will be okay. Do you guys have any helpful tips before I start?

I did that a couple years ago, and it was fairly easy.

Maybe put some duct tape around the parts you aren't wanting to cut, in case the dremel slips some. That would be the only suggestion I have.

I installed a Midwest FF the same way. Very easy. I used my 4" angle grinder and cut about 90% through, then put a large screwdriver into the cuts, twisted, and it popped right in half. Took all of about 5 minutes. I did cover with rags/tape every exposed portion except the ring before I cut.

How did you remove the weld spring and snap ring? Cut them too, or just remove them with pliers?

Do you mean the delta rings? If you purchase the Drop in Samson model it should be fairly easy with pliers and a punch.

I just grabbed the circular springs with pliers and used snap ring pliers for the snap ring.
