Depends on what you want it for. If it is for accuracy reasons, it is a solution to a non-issue. If you are looking to tighten up the fit, that is a very inexpensive way to go. Cheaper than an accuwedge. Either way, it will tighten the upper to lower fit. Not sure if this helped or not.

It will make you rifle so accurate you won't know what to do with it.

Ravenslair summed it up pretty well. If the play is bothering you, it will "fix" it, but I highly Doubt it has any effect on accuracy.

I tried the O-ring trick on mine and it would not work due to the overhang of my DD Omega forend near the front of the receiver, I used an AccuWedge.
It tightened it up, as far as accuracy, who knows, working the trigger over and putting a better grip on it made it easier to shoot for me.
