    Saiga Conversion issue HELP

I recently took my newly converted Saiga to the range and noticied the pin, which holds the FCG, started creeping out. The gun shoots fine but I had to check the pin after every shot. I tried tapping the pin back in but it only goes this far (see pic). Am I doing something wrong here? Anybody run into the same issue?

Are you using the "shepard crook" or a Red Star Arms FCG plate? You replaced the trigger with Tapco or something right? What are you using to hold the other pins in with?

    RSA Plate:

You'll get about 15 experts in the Gunsmithing forum if your thread gets over there. Post a picture of what your innards look like if you don't have any pins/plates holding your pins in.

More info on Mach69's tutorial for AK Build Party. Post specifically on FCG's:

        The retaining plate is Tapco.

I have zero experience with theirs. But it's obvious it isn't doing it's job.

Install all the pins to correct depth and follow Tapco's instructions on installing their pin retaining plate. If still not good, get the RSA plate. $5 from AK-Builder.com. THE recommended FCG plate for AK's!

Just use some E-clips. They're about 10cents apiece. They actually come standard on saigas. Whomever did the conversion didn't put them back in.

I second the e-clips. They are a little hard to install on the hammer pin but I like them better than the plates.

I have never used the Tapco plate, but it should roll down to catch that lower pin, then the safety locks it into place. If that won't work for you, order a plate from AK builder, they are 5$ and worth every penny.

                  That's the problem - it's a POS.

Get the red star as pictured earlier or this one, it's only $10 and works well on Saigas:

Got any pictures of the internal trigger assembly?

Retaining plate that came with my tapco trigger group worked just fine on my conversion. I'd double check that it was installed correctly. I've put about 600 rounds down the pipe of mine since conversion and nothing is coming loose.

Is the Saiga conversion Tapco trigger a different part number/kit than their regular single or double hook kits? I ask because no Tapco trigger I've ordered came with any retaining plate.
