    Using baby wipes for cleaning?

The guys where I bought my rifle suggested that baby wipes are great for general cleaning - inside and outside. (While still using specialized cleaning products like Hoppe's for more careful cleaning and taking care of the barrel.)

The problem is that I can only find wipes that are treated with aloe. Grrr! Is this a problem? I searched high and low at a pretty big drug store and all the wipes had aloe.

I know: hardly the biggest problem in the world but I'm curious.

I have never heard of that and personally wouldn't do it. How much cleaning do you need to do? Just use some oil (lightly) and wipe it dry afterwards.
Fallujah had become a magnet for foreign jihadists and there were several thousand in the city who had come to make martyrs of themselves, to die while killing as many Americans as possibleAt each house I said a prayer, 'Please God get me out of this one.' When I come out of the house, I thank Him, light up a cigarette and move on to the next onesigpic

I've heard of this and use baby wipes when I'm doing a thorough cleaning. Heard it from a buddy in the marine corps and he said all his guys use them. For quick cleaning I don't though, just clean the barrel and lightly oil. They do work pretty good though

I think it's the combination of alchohol and lanolin.

        From Wikipedia:

Lanolin is used commercially in many industrial products ranging from rust-proof coatings to lubricants. Some sailors use lanolin to create a slippery surface on their propellers and stern gear to which barnacles cannot adhere. The water-repellent properties make it valuable as a lubricant grease where corrosion would otherwise be a problem.

Sure i'd clean my rifle if there's nothing left in this world to clean it with. Like CLP, Hoppes, etc..

I still use clp after a wipe down with the wipes. I just use it to get the big crud out and there durable so they don't rip apart to easy

                Old T-shirt and rubbing alcohol.

Actually, talking to these guys made it sounds like they did it because it made cleaning really quick: a couple of baby wipe rubs and they were mostly done.

At least one was recent ex-Marines so I imagine he had baby wipes for dealing with sandy conditions in general.

We used baby wipes in the army when we needed to get the weapons super clean for an inspection. Just make sure you oil/grease your gun real good after taking baby wipes to it because the alcohol strips all that stuff off.

I actually used baby wipes to clean my service rifle at OCS this past summer. They worked great for a quick clean when short on time.

There's a joke in here someplace about using baby-wipes for a quick clean-up of the ol' gun after use, but I'm going to leave it alone

Don't forget to use a bit of talcum powder. You know in case of irritations and stuff.

Iggy, I heard that A+D ointment works better for the "irritations and stuff".
