Anyone own a Remington R25? Do you like it? I handled one today and liked it.

What's a good price with bi-pod and a $200 scope?

Where did you handle one? I was under the impression it couldn't be brought into the state unless it was pre-equipped with a bullet button and I haven't heard of Remington doing this.

That is why middle men FFLs out of state install the Bullet Button or take them apart and then ship them into CA FFLs.

I think I am selling mine for $1700. It is probably over priced. Do a search on Gun Broker then add about $150 for Californification, shipping, and transfer fees.

I have one. Have Monarch 16x scope, a Harris bi-pod on front, and a CTK mono-pod on the back. Fun 308 rifle. I still haven't had a chance to shoot it long range, but I'm getting 1 inch groups at 100 yards with Walmart ammo.

One thing to keep in mind, it's 308, and it does not like 7.62x51 (Nato 308) ammo at all.

I always thought .308 and 7.62 nato was 100% compatible both ways.

They are not. Although many people will tell you that they are. Here is a very good article on the subject:

Long stories short: 308 and 7.62x51 are different. Some people will tell you the ammo is interchangeable. Some smarter people will tell you that it's OK to shoot 7.62 in a 308, but not 308 in a 7.62. (Interestingly, DPMS, the manufacturer of the R-25 for Remington, tells you the opposite, that you can shoot 308 in their 7.62 chambers, but not 7.62 in their 308 chambers.) The smartest people of all will tell you don't interchange them at all, unless you really know what you are doing and you've had your chamber modified accordingly.

I was told that the R25 cant take any aftermarket parts...more specifically a different stock, handguard and grip. Is this true??

With Winchester white box 7.62 it was horribly inaccurate. With South African and some other mil surplus I can't remember, it fails at least 50% of the time. Failures include failure to fire, and failure to eject. This was before I knew I wasn't supposed to be shooting 7.62.

Oh, and I got mine from DDsRanch.

Thats funny I have one too,also from DD's ranch. When i did some ammo test Winchester white box shot quite well! just my two cents.

Was it white box 308 or white box 7.62x51?

Hmmm, I need to read those links up above and learn something, because I am using South African 7.62 mil ammo in my R25. I am not having any issues with misfires and extractions but, I would say my accuracy is not the best around 2in groups regular with a flyer.
