Pre- 1st time shooting cleaning, should I take the rifle apart completely?

I am picking up my new Saiga tomorrow. On thursday, I will take it to the range for the first time. I was planing on just cleaning the barrel and doing a light cleaning without taking it apart.
Should I take the rifle apart completely? If yes, anyone have any good writeups?
I've never taken a rifle apart. My shotgun manual says to remove the barrel and clean inside the action without taking it apart. Is a quick cleaning sufficient?
    Thanks.

Just for precautions sake, I detail strip used rifles/pistols and field strip new guns. Just to make sure everything is kosher and functioning. Besides, it is fun.
And God said \"taketh your rifles, all of ye, all but those unto the nation of California, for exempt must their rifles be and the resth are forlorn.\" So sayth the Lord.

Use this website for a complete field strip and reassembly, clean as often as you like.

          Have a great Kenpo day

Well, you can look in there and pretty much see how clean everything is and whether or not you feel that a detail cleaning is warranted beyond field stripping. From what I've seen, I don't think your Saiga will need much cleaning at all and the field stripping will be more useful for familiarization than cleaning.

you're lucky you have one of the easiest weapons to clean and take apart.
