San Diego Shooters where can I go

I asked this question in the shotgun forum but only got a limited response.

Would anyone like to share where they go country shooting, IE in the wilderness but within an hour or so of the city. I really like shooting my new Saiga at the indoor range but now I have the need to shoot at multiple targets at different ranges. I can build targets but need a place to shoot were I won't be harassed by the local LEO.

    Thx Diego

Try some of the local outdoor rangers. South bay rod and gun has one out in delzura. There is one that is somehow associated with Duncan's Guns up in Rainbow by the Riverside border. You can also contact the rangers at Cleveland National Forest to see which areas they have open for shooting. Most are probably closed for fire season, but they will be able to tell you for sure one way or the other. I think there is a private range on the Pala indian reservation, but I don't know much about it. Ther rest of the ranges I know of are either private, or don't have anything much over 100-150 yards.

the pala shooting range is run y the North county Shootist Association i believe. its only open for practice and competitions, usually some sort of competition every weekend. and have parctice couple days a week. right during mid day.

most ranges int he forest are going to be closed i went up to where i shot in pauma valley and it was really dry. the tinder was dry enough to catch fire from a near match so i didnt shot that day. otherwise there is the desert..buts its still like 110 outt here so screw that.

Or jucumba area. but it is shorter ranges from what ive seen out there and a hell of a drive.

Stop by the Sheriffs station and ask for a map of shooting areas. Then ask which parts of the map are really open for shooting.

It's a couple of years out of date and you have to figure out what the restrictions are.

        More info....
