Wolf 6.5 Grendel ammo range test

After months of waiting, I finally got a supply of Wolf 6.5 123 gr. SP. This allowed me to test my never-before-fired upper I have had for @ 6 months. It is one I special ordered from Competition Shooting, 20", stainless match barrel with stainless bolt, PRI brake.

As per recommendations regarding barrel break-in, I have only fired a few rounds thru the thing, cleaning between each shot.

Now, this is not a treatise on how good or bad the Wolf stuff may be, but just my impressions, so far. I am NOT an expert shooter, and do not claim to be. But this is how it went....

Target set at 100 yds. Wind was calm. Fired one round from bench without a 'for real aim'... basically looked thru the scope, cross hairs on center, pulled my cheek away from the buttstock and squeezed trigger. ( This was the first shot thru the thing, wanted to make sure my head wasn't in the way if it blew up.) Was 8" off center.

The next 7 shots were fired with the main goal of seeing how close the scope was zeroed but I was not expecting this...all 7 rounds fit into a quarter-size circle! I can't imagine how it will perform once the barrel is broken in. The Wolf ammo seems to perform well although I have not fired a lot thru the gun. Am satisfied so far....! Will update from time to time

    *searches for the right smilie*

this makes it so much easier for me to justify getting a 6.5 eventually

Ammoman has it for $270/500 shipped.

BTW, good to know it shoots well.
