    Any Thoughts on PWS Buffer?

Well, I am thinking about getting a new buffer....a backup buffer for my DPMS. I looked at Spike's Tactical and PWS, and was wondering what your thoughts were. From what I hear, Spike's is on the heavier side whereas the PWS is sort of in the middle, between DPMS and Spike's. Any issues with ammo cycling with either buffer?

Need more details about the rest of the gun before a buffer suggestion can be made.

CMMG 5.56 Upper, Stag Arms lower, with a 1:9 barrel twist. Currently using a DPMS buffer with CMMG buffer tube and CMMG lower kit hardware.

        What length gas system?
        What ammo?

What problems are you having that you are looking to fix by swapping buffers?

          Well, it's a 16" barrel and I use a variety... PMC .223 55gr, .223 55gr American Eagle, Remington .223 45gr.

It's not that I'm having any problems, but a fellow shooter suggested a heavier buffer to reduce the recoil and reducing cycling problems. It was more of a backup idea...just get one and keep it as a spare, or use the DPMS as a spare.

If you are not actually having problems, I would just leave it alone.
However, you mention reducing cycling problems above right after you say you are not having any problems.
How do you reduce problems you don't have?

haha..... I misspoke. He suggested this in the event I start to have cycling problems. As I understand it, sooner or later, the more I shoot, the more likely I am to start having problems. This is just a backup, something to have in my box. Thanks for the feedback, and I understand what you are saying.

Just keep it lubed and you probably won't have any problems.
If you do have problems, post up and we can fix them.
Save the money you were going to spend on the buffer and buy yourself some Weaponshield EWL or Slip2000 EWL.

I have both the Palmetto H2 and H3. They both worked well in my 16" carbine.

I was told to go with the heaviest buffer that would still cycle the action as a way to increase reliability. They said that delaying the extraction (movement of the bolt/bolt carrier) with a heavy buffer will reduce the chamber pressure and thus make extraction easier. They also say to get a full-auto bolt carrier as it has more mass than the semi-auto.
