    AR A1 stock installation question

Okay so I am building a retro rifle. I have a mil spec buffer tube, OG A1 stock, and OG A1 stock screw.

I installed the buffer tube with no problem.

Here is my problem. When I try and put the stock screw in to the buffer tube it has a very tight fit. Is this normal? I want to get some feedback before I move forward and tighten it in there.

I even tried screwing on the screw directly on to the buffer and it is still very very tight....I read that these are self locking screws....does this mean that the screw and buffer has a very very tight fit?

The stock screw on my a2 was really tight too. I was unable to get it tight enough to keep all the slop out between the stock and reciever. My screw came from RRA with a bunch of locktite dried on it. I had to remove most of it before I could tighten down the screw all the way and it is still pleanty tight.

Are you sure they are A1 screws and not A2 butt stock screws. I think the A2 screws are longer. I'm not sure if the spacer is the same on both. It should be a very tight fit with no play in the stock.

A1 Has no spacer, A2 stock is longer thats why it needs the spacer.

It is extremely tight. I do not use a regular screwdriver but the end of the DPMS armorers tool (that's what that it for). I do think one of my gunsmiths has a screw driver bit specific for it but I don't touch his stuff.
