I shoot 7.62x54 brown bear ammo up there with my mosin-nagant and they don't say anything. But having to use surplus ammo, what else could I do if they told me no-no?

Yugo surplus ammo has shot great for me in the 54R as well as 39.

See how confused people get with these terms? I didn't say anything at all about the ammo being "steel cased". I was talking about the difference between steel jacketed and steel cored.

The jacket and the core are parts of the projectile. The case is the part of the cartridge that holds the powder. Steel cartridge cases pose zero fire danger. Steel jacketed and steel cored ammo do pose a fire danger.

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Wait - you said they're going to ban the steel jacketed stuff even in the winter too? Aw man, that sucks! I've got tons of x54 and x39 that is magnetic, and was hoping to burn it up once we get a bit of rain.

Man, I miss the good old days at Burro....
