    Hakko TacPoint

I was wondering if anyone with any experience with this dot sight could elaborate on it. Someone on this board reccommended it to me, can't remember who though. After doing some research on different boards I am almost ready to get one for my Keltec SU16 Ca rifle. I have heard mostly positive remarks. I was under the impression that Hakko had gone under, Hence Springfield Armory dropping their optics line. Any knowledgeable folks out there have any info on the Hakko Tacpoint 1 or Hakko in general?

    Thanks,

It's a cheap knockoff of an Aimpoiont commonly used on Airsoft replicas. It has no place on a defensive/serious use gun but may be ok on a plinker.

I have one on my defensive/serious gun and it's great. it beats the heck out of what we had 25 years ago, it would have been all the rage then, nothing wrong with them now.

the fact that "hakko tac point" was a forbidden term on ar15.com (using those words would get you banned from that site!) was all I needed to know. I bought one immediately, I use it, like it, and do not regret it. In fact, it's on my best-quality AR, with an Israeli-contract 1/7 twist 20" Colt mfr. chrome lined lightweight barrel, RRA T-numbered flattop with RRA enhanced bolt and carrier, genuine USGI A1 stock and PG and M16 HGs, etc.

        thanks

Thanks for the input guys. I bought one late last night off of ebay for $70.00 new in box. Seems to be fair.I am going to try it out on the Keltec Ca.
There is actually a pretty good faq on the Hakko on ar15.com most people get all ofended about them but a few seem to loose their elitism and realize that not everyone wants to spend $500.00 for a dot sight and mount.
I have already done that with about a dozen rifles in my collection. Since I am getting to the last of my PSG-1 money I had to decide if I wanted to buy a Keltec with a Tacpoint and four Vulcan receivers or a Keltec with an Aimpoint and one Vulcan receiver. Since more is better,(Usually) I think I will try the Tacpoint. I will post a review in a couple weeks

Who cares what people who spend half their time worring about how "fresh" their "SHTF" ammo is, thoes people scare me.

I have a Hakko on my shorty AR and its fine, hold zero nicely. AR's don't recoil enough to break scopes anyway. I'm sure it won't pass the drop test the Aimpoint will but your not going into cambat, are you?
          where are my pistol mags?

I have one on my AR and have to admit it is a pretty damn good knockoff of the Aimpoints. It doesn't have the 10,000 hour battery life of the newer Aimpoints, but then again it doesn't cost $400 plus bucks. I did however leave the red dot on for 8 days straight once and the dot was still bright at the end of those 8 days. I heard of a guy that uses one to compete in 3 gun and a way he would pscyc out the competion is he would take his TacPoint and toss it 15 feet down range and challenge anyone else to do the same with their Aimpoints/ACOGs etc. He never gets someone willing to take him up on it.

Only complaint I have about the TacPoint is the reddot is not as bright as my OKO's.

I got the tacpoint too on my SU-16. Got it for $85 bucks and so far it was worth it. AR15.com is a breeding ground for tight-wads and a-holes. Its all about spending more money then the next guy over there. I bought it just to try a reddot on my SU. Still not sure if I like shooting it over iron sights but one thing I know for sure is that the tacpoint works fine. Just like 50freak, I left mine on for 6 days and have taking it to the range every time I go. The dot is still bright and has not change zero in the maybe 600 rd's I put through it. It really is a solid built optic that does just fine on my 223. I have heard it also does fine on 308 rifle though I woul dnot try it. The next step up would be a Holosight IMO.

              PS
Thinking about putting it on my 45 for a few months. That will either make it or brake it.

                Hakko Tac-Point

I have a Tac-Point on my Su-16 and that sucker is dead on accurate!!! Just came back from a shoot at Burro Canyon with L.S.B. and every one I let shoot my weopon was very impressed! I also fired my new XD-40 which functioned flawlessly and also with the Heine sites accurate as well. I believe you will not be dissapointed. Try "Andean Inc.com" got mine for $89.00 thats a big difference from Aimpoints $390.00 site and works just as good.

I have one on my su16 and it's rock solid. No complaints. Found out about it on ar15.com. Same thing, I heard a bunch of people slamming it because it didn't cost $400. listened to both sides of the argument and decided to get it. been happy with it ever since.

I have one on my Mini-14. It was more accurate on my 10/22 (probably due to the mini). No problem with zero or anything. Of course I'm not gonna go hammer nails with it, but it serves it purpose exceptionally well, especially for $100 or less!

                      It came today

The Hakko arrived this morning. Looks very nice, I started to put it on the SU16ca but decided to pressure test it on the SOCOM. It appears to be very nicely made. Bright dot, much brighter than my old tasco propoint. I am going out to shoot a couple hundred rounds through it this afternoon and I will report back on how it survived the SOCOM.

I have one on my FAL and like it. I just don't understand why I am going to need a real AIMPoint. I am not a professional military person. I am not going to war, nor am I thinking that I will need it for TSHTF, I might be dead by then, who knows. It's a great red dot for taking out to the range and shooting. I don't abuse my equipment, and if it breaks, then I'll just spend another 100 bucks and pick up another one.

Plus it's scientifically proven that reddot scopes don't work on zombies...

Should work fine on the Socom, works fine on my FAL.

One word of warning. If you notice on the harder recoiling rifles, that all of sudden your red dot is not as bright as when you first got it. It is often fixed by buying the same batteries the Aimpoint uses.

The cheap batteries that come supplied by the TacPoint has a tendency to move in the battery case during recoil and that affects the brightness settings.

                              240 rounds

Just got back a little while ago from shooting the SOCOM with the Hakko sight. 240 rounds and had a little problem. After about 200 rounds the dot seemed considerably blurrier than when I started shooting. Still bright, but it appears to almost be two dots right next to eachother. I though that my eyes were tired and not focusing well. Picked up my propoint equiped Ruger Mark II and it seemed that my eyes are not at fault.
After returning home and cleaning the gun I turned on the sight again and the dot appeared to be a single dot. I think I will pick up some new batteries tomorrow and see if they are at fault.
