Only Blackthorne, Hesse and Valcan are real bad
Model 1 Sales, DelTon are ok
    Bushmaster, RRA, Olympic are good
Armalite, Stag, Spikes, Bravo Company are great
    Colt, LMT, LWRC are top

There are others...a lot of them. This is just my list. Everyone has their own.

I agree that the LMT MRP CQB (16" barrel) Rocks! I got one after comparing many other ARs and it is a solid gun. It is moderately priced but well worth it.

Most people try to avoid getting STDs.

As for rifles, the list above is pretty good. The ones he lists as "ok" are basic, no frills firearms. They are functional, but not as high of quality as the others. That doesn't mean that they are not reliable. But with prices coming down as much as they have the past few months, even people on shoe-string budgets can afford a better rifle for the same money as a M1S or Del-Ton purchased 18 months ago. Look at the sites for the manufacturers listed above and see who has the best deal on what you want right now. Unless you absolutely have to have the rifle right now, I would take a few days to compare deals. You can also call the various companies and see if they have any other deals going that haven't made it to the websites for one reason or another. Sometimes they will have small lots of oddball configurations left over from previous batches that you can pick up inexpensively. Relatively speaking, of course. Armalite had some really good uppers goiong for $300 last year. Several others have had complete rifles for $600-800. It is all just a matter of looking around. Also cruise the for sale section on here and over at arf.com.

I owned a RRA for quite some time and enjoyed it very much. It doesn't like any coated wolf ammo though.

I recently purchased a DDM4 and the quality looks great. I haven't had time to get to the range just yet.

You won't be disappointed with the RRA. It is a good buy.

The chart is wrong. My RRA A4 BCG's gas key is staked.

I believe the OP wanted a 1/9 Twist H BAR 16". RRA has that and a choice for Chrome lined barrel and BCG. The ones that were mentioned mostly has 1:7 TWIST and is of Gov't profile.

You can't go wrong with an RRA.

                            Properly staked?

It looks like other staked gas keys on BCG I have seen. I think Properly is overrated when it comes to staked gas keys. LIke I said I have seen them compared to my BCG and looks all the same. You either stake it or not stake it at all.
