    Need Help - Building an AR

    Now, I'm sure this has been asked a million times...

    I am building an AR and I don't know what I should go with... traditional A tower front sight or gas block?

    I appreciate any feedback.

    Thanks!

    depends on the overall look your going for. i myself would get a low pro glass block that will fit under a free float rail. then by back up irons.

      if its a fighting carbine, then get a FSB;

      If its going to be scoped, get a gas block, long rail and flip up

        Go with what ever you like. Having a FSB doesn't mean that its a fighting carbine.. I removed mine for a low profile gas block. Works well.

          The FSB is only kept around because it is cheap to build, it is the standard, and it is easiest to teach people how to use it.

            I agree with tomd1584; on a fighting carbine you want your irons always immediately available in case your optic dies. So, if you aren't going to put your front sight down, why pay for a folding one? Just co-witness your red dot with your irons and you're golden.

            However, if you plan on putting magnified optics on (especially more than 3X), you'll want to be able to fold down that front sight for an unobstructed view. But then, you're more likely talking a rifle, not a carbine.
