New Rifle. What do you do?

Hi. I've tried searching on the forum and can't seem to find anything, but what are the recommended things you should do with a new rifle?

1: Verify bullet button device works correctly.
    2: Install verified 10-round magazine.
    3: Bore sight iron sights.
    4:

OK, now what other recommended maintenance should be done?

This is for an upper/lower "build" using BCM parts.

Is there anything else I should do besides begin wondering whether I should actually "build" the next one and what should be in it?

I take apart my guns and re-lube everything before putting it back together to shoot for the first time. While doing this, I pay attention to any knicks, burrs, etc.

    WTB used AK MFER.

Run a bore snake or brush and a few patches thru the barrel to be sure any unwanted stuff is not in it. Lube gun and take it out and shoot it. Do not let the barrel get hotter than you can hold your hand on it(do not overheat it). Sight in rifle. Go home and clean and lube it.

Clean, inspect, function check. Dry patch before shooting to make sure there's no oil in the chamber or barrel.

+100 on everyones suggestion for cleaning the rifle and doing a proper inspection for cracks, chips, missing pieces, etc. Don't forget to do a functions check as mentioned above.
