Hey guys I just finished my first OLL build (no pics yet, they're coming) and I'm taking it out to the range tomorrow. I have an SKS and a Mauser, but I've never shot an AR before, so I'm wondering if there is anything I need to know before I go out shooting? Any tips or tricks to avoid looking like a newb on the line? Thanks!

make sure ur car reg sticker is not expired... wash your car... make sure no cracked windshield.... dress nice, so you don't look like someone that LEO will pull over and harass u for your legally configured OLL... sigh... what we go through for a day of fun at the range...
most important of all... have fun out there!Comment

Do a quick clean and lube.
Do a function check of the safety, trigger and hammer as described in any of The Manuals.
Load and fire one round to verify the feed, fire, eject and that the bolt lock back cycle.
Load and fire two rounds to verify the feed, fire, eject and feeding of a second round.
Load and fire ten rounds (if it's 10 rd mag) to verify reliable feeding of a full mag.
Zero and shoot for groups.Originally posted by ChrisTKHarrisThat is one of the most idiotic statements I've heard. You are a retard.Comment

Also, bring lots of ammo.
Lube the bolt carrier well. There are 4 "rails", or bearing surfaces on the carrier. 2 on the top half, and 2 on the bottom half. I'd lube those up pretty good before starting, and check them once in awhile to make sure they're still wet throughout your shooting.Comment

If you're new here, just follow the advice of the guy who looks like a donkey in a sombrero.
He's forgotten more about ARs than most people learned about breathing.
