    DD Rails

I'll be doing a complete build. From a stripped upper on.

Which rail do you like and why?

    DD Lite rail

    Or

    DD Omega rail

I have both, and like both.

the ease of installation of the Omega, the pure awesomeness of the Lite.

    I have a 7" Omega and a 12" FDE lite.

Yeah I don't neccesarily need an easy installation since I'm doing this from a stripped upper

Then there's not much reason to go with the Omega. Even better might be a monolithic upper with rail.

            You could sell it?

At any rate, I'm a fan of less screws, so the Lite gets my vote if you're sticking with a standard receiver.

I'll get an omega x over the omega rail. I currently own a DD lite and love it.

Why's everyone in love with the DD Lite? I thought it's not even free float?

I went with the Omega 9 for my midlength because it's free float and the lightest 9 inch rail I can find.

In due time Veggie. Right now it's Top Secret.

Davy, the lite is most definitely free float.

Oops, my bad. As long as it's free float, I the build can't go wrong. I'd still want the lightest one available though, even if it's only 2 ounces.

Good price for a DD rail

I mounted this one. Very solid, tight and light.

The weight difference between the two is too small to be meaningful.

Both are free floating and are excellent rails.

The Omega rail was designed to be used with a fixed FSB. It's very narrow and won't work with some low-pro gas blocks (there are a couple that will fit but it's very tight). It mounts on a standard delta ring. One nice bonus is that it has a built-in sling swivel.

The Lite rail requires disassembly to be installed but since you're starting from scratch this won't be a factor for you. It will work with either a low-pro gas block or fixed FSB. The Lite rail has its own barrel nut and requires DD's Lite rail nut wrench which can be found for $10-20 depending on where you buy it.
