Saiga Partial Conversion> Need 922r Help.

HELP HELP HELP HELP HELP HELP HELP HELP HELP

So I want to do a partial conversion to my SAIGA 7.62 amd need 922r Compliance help.
I want to add an AK front handguard I Purchased from Calgunner C-1, an AK74 Style Muzzle, and Bullet guide so I can use AK mags. I'm keeping the OEM Sports Rifle Stock. The Muzzle (AKS-046) sold by Cheaper Than Dirt says it counts as one 922r Comp. part. I'll go with that one.
What do I need to do or use to keep it LEGAL? Thanks

    Here's a link

Honestly though, no individual has ever been prosecuted for 922r, not once. If you're not a crack dealer or something you're fine as it is.

LOL Not a Crack Dealer, just an honest Joe. If the firearm was ever taken by Law Enforcement would they actually be able to inspect it and tell if its 922r comp.
I also found an AK47 Trigger group for $28 That says it counts as 3 Compliance parts. With the muzzle that would be 4 parts.

            And Yes, 922r does matter.

I have recently completed a similar "partial conversion" with a stock Saiga.

In regards to 922r, I made the following changes:

US made handguard - Tapco Galil style

US made hammer and disconnector- a modified G2 group from Dinzag.
It greatly improved the stock trigger pull, totally worth it.

I use US made Tapco 10 rounders and have US made followers in my preban
30 round AK mags (the whole reason I bought the gun)

I used Dinzag's bullet guide kit and it works great.

I didn't add a muzzle device, but it would need to be US made.
The stock Saiga needs four components replaced by US versions. Not
all parts count, look at the AK 922r checklist on Saiga12.com forum.
If I didn't want to worry about magazine parts, I could have replaced
              the gas piston as well.

One last note, be aware that AK handguards require a retainer
and different gas tube than the saiga comes with. Modified
handguard retainers are available from Dinzag and Carolina Shooters
Supply if you don't want to press off your front sight base.

I ended up with a better gun, even though I was just trying to acheive
922 compliance to use my AK mags.

Check out the Saiga12 forum for sure. It's a big help, but many folks over there will just tell you to convert, they don't always understand our
              California predicaments.

              Good luck!

First off the brake won't do anything for 922r, that was never imported with a brake so adding one does nothing. You need to make sure that hand guard is US made or that useless for 922r also.
If you want to keep the OEM stock, you can only use 2 parts from the Tapco G2 FCG, the hammer and dis connector, you won't use the trigger. After that there really isn't much besides the gas piston or mag parts.

IMO you should just move the FCG. That would give you 3 parts and get a Tapco or other US made stock. That is 4 parts and now you can use any mag you feel like.

Fully converting certianly makes the 922 process easier,
however if you are trying to go featureless, leaving the Monte Carlo
stock can be a good option. I prefer it to the Monster Man
grip, which you would need to use 30 rounders after resoring the gun
                      to pistol grip configuration.

If you are only going to be using 10 or 10/30 mags,
converting and using a mag lock would best

just my 2 cents, have fun with it!

If the FCG is moved and the OEM stock is retained, the reach for the trigger is pretty long. Install a standard AK stock that will take care of that and if US made, you now have 4 parts.

Just plain bad advice. To asme: Responsible gun ownership is more than just gun safety. It's also about being compliant with all existing gun laws (however ridiculous you might think they are). If you don't like playing by the rules, then please find a new hobby.

when you add a brake it DOES join the parts count. adding a brake triggers 922r just by itself. if it's us made it is a moot point as to how many additional us parts are needed. adding an import, say a 4 piece, would make one more us part necessary.

                              confusing, no?
