How about my HK SP-89..?.It's registered currently on the AW list. Can I add a bullet button and remove it from the list..?

      Thanks

Fewer people are killed with all rifles each year (323 in 2011) than with shotguns (356), hammers and clubs (496), and hands and feet (728).

If it is on the list then you can't do anything to get it off the list. BB equipped Off List Lowers are legal because they are off list and thus don't apply to anything named or referred to in the penal code.

I can't sell it to anyone in California; I can't even give it to my adult son.

It's in limbo. It's NIB and I don't want to shoot it; I've heard that some Ranges won't let you shoot one anyway. I do have the original 15 round mag it came with and 6 brand new MP-5 Mags as well.

              Thanks for the replys gentlemen..!.

Sell it out of state or keep it. You never know what may happen.

Never heard of ranges doing that. But some might I guess.

Im not sure if you can find one but you could always try to find an Off list receiver and transfer the parts to it.

Actually registered AW PISTOLS can be removed from the list and sold with in CA, RIFLES cannot, but you have to make sure it's been de-AW'd, ie bullet button and single shot mag for transfer. Once the DROS is approved to the new purchaser, you need to send a letter to DOJ that you are no longer in possession of the pistol and that is has been reconfigured in a way the it does not violate SB23.

You can double check with DOJ to verify the above, that what is the what I remember.

Though it would be a shame, you can legally demill it and put all the parts on a new receiver.

Which one would be better for protection the USC, SL8 or HK USP? I've been also directed towards colts.

Probably not an option worth pursuing on a HK SP89 pistol thats worth $4k+

Heres a thread that discusses this topic: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/a.../t-324215.html
"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."
"What we get away with isn't usually the same as what's good for us"
"An extended slide stop is the second most useless part you can put on a 1911"

"While Ruger DA revolvers may be built like a tank, they have the aesthetics of one also,
although I suppose there are a few tanks which I owe an apology to for that remark"

Start a new thread regarding the subject. Also state what sort of protection ie home, ranch, camping, personal. Put a budget for your firearm and people will find you something you need. From what you stated with your options, you covered about every possible scenario over a huge budget. I only say so because you will get more opinions other than what your inital post advertized.
