Sorry, no picture yet. I have a co worker who came across alot of ammo and gave me a casing larger than a .308 with F N 48 stamped across the back. Its about 2.5" long without a bullet. Any suggestions.

7.92mm, or 8mm?That may be a CG first!

when you say larger do you mean longer or fatter?
if it's same diameter and about 63mm long it's probably a 30-06.Comment

Pics would help.If it has a large rim and a tapered case it could be a 7.62x54.It could be any number of shells made for the military or civilian use.Comment

I have this handgun.
Sorry, I don't have any pictures, but it's black and says COLT on it.
What is it?
ETA more details:
It's about 7" long and it has a round hole at the front end and wood grips at the back end.
It has a notched rear sight and a blade front sight.Last edited by ar15barrels; 08-03-2010, 9:33 AM.Randall Rausch

A quick googling of the headstamp indicates it's probably 7.7 x 56R (the European/Japanese metric designation). Also known as .303 British.
If the primer has green sealant on it, that makes it pretty certain.Last edited by xrMike; 08-03-2010, 10:15 AM.Comment
