D.D. MM4 vs YHM black diamond specter xl???? Whats your pick and why?

I was looking for my 1st. AR. I was looking at the DD MM4 and then I saw the YHM black diamond specter xl. It looks very nice as well. I hear how well made D.D. stuff is.

I would like to hear what you guys think?

To me, they're apples to oranges. The DDM4 is a top tier upper with really high quality parts, MPI testing, hammer forged barrel IIRC, free floating high end handguard, better BCG, and in general they just have a higher end upper with a better barrel.

The YHM is a great upper for 95% of people and will probably do you fine and they look a little cooler with their diamond fluted barrel, flash hider, and different handguard. If you're looking for something that looks cool, the YHM will be the one to get, but if you're looking for something to shoot and shoot without any failures if you do your part, the DD is the way to go. Good luck with your pick either way.

And for reference, I had the DDM4 12fsp, and the YHM Smooth carbine and both were pretty awesome uppers although the DD was definitely more accurate.

Ok sounds like the DD MM4 is the way to go. But the YHM dose look very nice :-)

I was thinking of build on of the New Mega set ups but I think that would run more then $1200 to do a Nice set up.

What do you mean, a mega lower or the complete Mega upper. The Adams Arms upper from www.rainierarms.com has the Mega monolithic upper that is AMAZING!


But its like $1330 for that upper

Daniel Defense. Better parts, better QC, top tier company. The YHM looks cool, but there are many others out there that are better options than yhm. Look at BCM, LMT, and Riflegear (made by Daniel Defense) for high quality setups in the same price range

one thing i've noticed is the DD rails are smaller diametrically and tend to fit nicer in the hand, that is, unless you have banana hands.

Yes the Mega monolithic upper's look good. I know they sell for around $550 and then
go with a Mega Billet lower. It could make for a nice set up. But could end up costing
alot more in the long run.
