Muzzle brake install question

Got the last few pieces for the rifle.
Received a dpms miculek muzzle brake.
The site suggested that I order a crush washer with it.
The brake came with a screw on piece which looks like
its supposed to go on before the brake.
My question is: Do I need the crush washer and this
other preliminary piece, or just one?
And, how many foot/pounds of torque do you use?

The miculek comps come with a locknut that you use to index.
Unfortunately, that leaves an ugly gap.
I prefer to deepen the threads on the Miculek and get rid of the locknut AND the crush washer.
Then I just index via machining the comp.

I guess you are stuck using the ugly nut.
Or you could get an MSTN QC comp that comes with shims for indexing.
Those look much better than the Muculek.

I have a Miculek brake on my AR-15 with the jam nut and I don't consider it ugly at all. Personal preference, I suppose.
