    I'd rather you be happy with a quality product than fall for a gimmick and realize later that you could have paid less for a better rifle.
    That review turned me away from the VTR and turned me on to the Varmint and I'm glad that it did. Did I mention that I love my SPS Varmint.
    I have a question for those who run a one piece base: Does the base interfere with loading rounds?

      700SS5R MIL SPEC

      I've been looking for a while for my long range rifle,after alot of research I bought a stock 700ss5r on sniperhide for $1000. sub moa out of the box. I'll be getting it in a couple of weeks,now to start looking for the glass. can't go wrong with 7005r

          Whichever you decide on, don't cheap out on the scope. I've seen too many fine rifles not being used to their full potential because the owner went with a tasco or ncstar or some other low end scope.

            I'm going to get into this bolt action soon enough too and I must say I'm looking at getting the 5r too its not that much more than the 700p. On impact guns right now the 700p is listed at 969.99 and the 700 SS mil-spec 24" 5r is 1049.99 think about it. If I were you I would just try and buy the best glass you can that way you don't have to buy something twice go with the NF F1 MLR mil mil.
