White Oak Precision upper with which barrel???

They have a ar15 upper im looking at with a Pac-north barrel for 905 or the same upper with a Krieger barrel for 985. The krieger is not that much more but i know pac north make a really nice barrel. Is the extra 80 going to the brand name or is it worth it?

Is this a match gun or a plinker rifle? Pac Nor is great, from match shooters I talk to Krieger is better if not best.

I've got a White Oak Precision service rifle upper (20" bbl) with a Pac Nor 1-7.5 twist and it's accuracy has been outstanding. I now have around 2,700 rounds through it and the accuracy has not dropped off. I normally shoot NRA Highpower scores in the mid Master range (around 765 out of 800 points) and this barrel will shoot much better than I can. It doesn't foul cleans very easily. When John Holliger built this for me around 2004, I discussed barrel choices extensively with him and he talked me into trying the Pac Nor barrel, which I think was a great decision.

Sounds great, how do you like the 1-7.5 twist, if you were to get it again would you get something else or do you recommend it? I was thinking about just a 1-8 twist.

Same here. I'm on my second WOP Pac Nor barrel. First one went 4800 rounds. Go with the Pac Nor until you can shoot Hi Master scores all the time.

+ a bunch to WOA! I have two White Oak barrels, the SDM and SPR, and they are both excellent and accurate! Another +1 to Rainer Arms who is their distributor and usually has them in stock!

My 1-7.5 twist has worked great with everything I've shot through it, which is Sierra 69, 77, and 80s, Hornady 75s, and Nosler 69s and 77s. When this barrel goes, I'm going to send it back to John Holliger for another Pac Nor 1-7.5. I have a buddy who is a High Master who got a White Oak Precision with a Pac Nor 1-6.5 barrel so he could try shooting the then new Sierra 90s, his barrel has shot everything from 69s to 90s very, very well. I've never had a 1-8 barrel, so I can't comment on them, but they should shoot everything up to 80 grain bullets very well.

If you are just starting out - White Oak barrel
If you want the best - Krieger 1:7.7 barrel
