From what I found out, it's a good idea to purge the gas tube of lead fouling after using a .22LR conversion kit by shooting a few rounds of .223 afterwards. Is that meant to be immediately afterwards, or will it be suffice to shoot .223 between .22LR sessions? My problem is that I'm using the .22LR conversion so that I can use my AR at an indoor range, but they don't allow .223 there; I have to go to a different range for that.

AR-15 .22LR conversion, cleaning the gas tube

Most people recommend doing it every brick or so (i.e. 500rd's), but the tube won't get fouled enough to stop up the gun (in 5.56) until well after several bricks have gone through it. But at that point it becomes harder to clean out the gas tube.
If all else fails, a gas tube is $15 and easy to replacePlease read the Calguns Wiki
Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.

I am not advising you to load a magazine with two .223 rounds, go behind your house, dig a 2 foot hole in the back yard and fire both shots into the hole, making sure the muzzle is inside the hole about 18" of the 24" deep hole....
I am not advising anyone to do this, since discharging a firearm inside a city is illegal.
and I am not saying a post hole digging shovel is the best kind of hole to muffle the sound.Comment
