    Featureless AR57?

Is there any way I could use the 50rd mags that these uppers can run by having it on a featureless build and still be CA legal? The whole "pre-ban" concept is still a little opaque to me and I would appreciate some clarification.

    Thanks for your help.

I think this is what it comes down to. The receiver looks like it would accept any of the featureless grip replacements currently on the market, including the Hammerhead.

I can't find any info on when this gun was first brought to market.

So if you didn't have the mags before the ban, you'll be limited to 10/50's. You could still drop those 10/50's with a finger press.

Also, the standard ar-57 uppers use an A2 flash hider, you will want to get rid of that and the pistol grip as well.

The (military only) p90 has been around since 1991, however FN didn't start selling it to civilians until 2005, making it extremely unlikely that many people got ahold of some of the mags before the 2000 ban set in.

If coma13 had some mags before Jan 1st 2000 then he is quite lucky.

I am not one of the lucky ones. Oh well. I was just curious if this could be a way of circumventing the silliness that is CA law and have something fun to shoot lots of consecutive shots with. It seems that any shortcuts have already been discovered and exploited by people far more clever than myself. Thanks for the feedback.

yeah, its a shame that CA takes the fun out of all the good stuff. The whole point of that upper is the ability to shoot 50rnds from the mag. when you limit it to 10nrds you end up with a big expensive under-performing Ar.

Exactly. I don't really have any interest in an upper that uses a propietary round if I can't shoot a whole hell of a bunch more holes in things before having to reload.

                  Silliness?
It is meant to rob shooting of the "fun" so we just give up.
thanks to Calguns and the BB, we at least have OTHER guns to shoot.

The solution? LKeep the 50 round magazines in Nevada or Arizona and visit them in weekends.

Refer to this thread for my featureless AR57 build (with pictures).

Peace demands solutions, but we never reach living solutions; we only work toward them. A fixed solution is, by definition, a dead solution. The trouble with peace is that it tends to punish mistakes instead of rewarding brilliance.

How about designing a rifle to hold more than one magazine and when one empties the rifle cycles the bolt to the next mag?
