    Saiga 7.62x39 Conversion Advice/Components Needed

So finally broke down and bought the saiga 7.62x39 rifle to add to my collection and am waiting for it to arrive so I am looking into getting some conversion components to add the pistol grip. Found lots of advice on the conversion and being 922r compliant but would like advice on components to buy.

Here is a link to a pic I found of a conversion I like:

The handguard will save money since I have a mill but the rest of the parts I will need. I would like to see any other tactical setups like this if you have one.

Can anyone name some of these components or also post any pics of their conversion with components or advice

Here is my build. Not as AR as your pic. But mine has a Galil armgaurd which is also not classic AK.

      These sites are real helpful:

I like the handguard...could you mount a bottom rail to that somehow? Anyone else have some components/pics setups?

No you can't mount anything underneath or anywhere else on armgaurd. That's the drawback. I wasn't interested any anything tactical. Maybe a scope, but I have a mount on the gun itself.

+1 for Dinzags triggers. Used them on my .223 and my .308. Excellent.

Saiga was 399 and 460 out the door with tax and background check from Goleta Valley Gun in Goleta, CA.

That's a really snazzy lookin handguard. I'm more of an AK purist, but that handguard looks really good.

I'm not really diggin the extra holes left in the receiver. I really don't understand this trend of leaving extra holes and not riveting the trigger guard down. An extra 20 minutes to complete the job really makes a difference.

Any AK bullet button should work if you shape the trigger guard properly.

Some of us cant weld, nor have access to a welder or refinishing (smoothing it out, blending, and painting). Using nylon plugs is much easier and cheaper. And not everybody can smash rivets like the cool AK builder guys. A screw, nut and some loctite, should be sufficient. But, if possible, taking the extra steps and the time to do it right, is well worth it.

To the OP: Thats the CAA stock and pistol grip. Looks like he's using an internal stock adapter with a folding stock mechanism, pignose adapter and AR receiver extension tube.

Since you're most likely not going to have it as a folder, perhaps the VLTOR RE47 adapter tube will be 'better' to attach an AR stock to, since you dont have to cut off the tang nor buy a bunch of different adapters.

If you're going to attach the trigger like the dude has in the picture, a Jumbo Panda might work, if you tweak the trigger guard a bit. A Raddlock works but I dont like that it replaces the OEM mag latch. Your options for mag locks are more plentiful if you weld the trigger guard onto the mag latch tower, or replace it completely with an AK trigger guard/ mag latch.
