    Info on Ammo

I'm look to pick up some tactical / defense rifle ammo.

How do you guys like double tap ammo? Any good?

Was thinking about .223 Rem. 62gr. FMJ-BT SS109 with steel penetrater for situations such as going through car doors and steel. (http://www.doubletapammo.com/php/cat...roducts_id=213)

How about FEDERAL TACTICAL LAW ENFORCEMENT 62gr BONDED (LE223T3)

I already have some Federal TRU 64 grain Hi-Shok SP (T223L) when I don't need to go though doors and other barriers.

Any other brand you would recommend?

    How about for 7.62 x 39??
Double Tap Russian Barnes Triple Shock (any good?)

Where can I get some decent 7.62x39 rounds. Non-Wolf, no steel case, no clear coat stuff. Something for defense situation and not plinking.

    Thanks.

I'd recommend the heaviest weight defensive round your rifle can shoot. From all my research, contrary to my own intuition, the heavier bullets produce faster yaw, fragmentation, more energy delivered, and reduced chance of over-penetration, even when compared to pistol bullets and buckshot.

    For my 14.5" 1/7 twist rifle I use Hornady TAP .223 75gr.

Rounds with the Sierra and Nosler 77gr would be GTG too.

Note: This doesn't mean one of the above rounds will not pass through your house. This is why you don't miss. Use that baddie as a backstop

Edit: My above post was for .223/5.56 ammo ONLY. Also I found a link you might find useful.
