To ACR or Not to ACR - That! is the question.

Like the title says to ACR or not? I went to my local Turners in WC and Jordan put an ACR in my hands, DAMN! No particular reason why other then its a nice rifle. I will probably sell 1 or 2 pieces of inventory for the purchase but its a nice rifle.
When Im at the range my primary rifle is an LMT (I wont sell it).
SO back to the questions, to ACR or not to ACR?

Save your money or buy more ammo for the LMT.

I want an ACR. But for the price I would like to wait for them to be out on the market for awhile to hear about any reliability issues, and if there is any issues for them to get the bugs fixed befor I got one.

Get the ACR, I love mine. I sold my LWRC and don't miss it at all.

Dooooh!!!! I can't believe I just heard that. Well to each is own I would not sell my M6A3 EVER. I would wait to see if you can get your hands on a improved version of the ACR the one that actually has the feature and one of the reasons that the rifle was built the folding stock. The OAL when the buttstock is folded is the question I want to know, you might have to have a longer barrel for this to work.

I would, but not until the Enhanced version is out.

How much was the basic? They seem to be ridiculously overpriced for what it is.

Buttstock being folded does indeed make the length below the minimum legal in CA. Mike at OC Armory told me he has already had someone transfer an Enhanced ACR through him with a fake can perma attached at the muzzle so he could retain the folding feature.

The enhanced version is indeed out. Median price people seem to be paying on gunbroker is around $2600.

I hope the price falls as precipitously as the basic version did, as its median price is now about $2000 NIB.

Not until they have released the 6.8 SPC kits will I tank my money into it. I have an AR in 5.56 - I don't need another one. The 6.8 compatability is the main reason I'll be buying one.
If they never release it... well I'll just have to find something else to spend my money on won't I

Try an XCR instead. Has all of the same features (more than the basic ACR, actually), but it a lot less money.

I almost decided on an ACR. Then I woke up and realized $2,100 is alot of money for what you are getting. The price is just not reasonable to me personally. To me it felt like a $1500 gun. The plastic safety lever, the non chrome lined barrel, the 1:9 twist, the secret proprietary coating that they are still not making public knowledge...? I just couldn't do it.

Not yet anyway. I do want one but just not yet. Maybe when the 6.8spc barrel is available so I can actually use the barrel change feature?

I agree with you, but to be fair, the 'omg-super-cool-secret-coating' is what they devised to Replace chrome lining, and is also why it is so god **** expensive. If you take bushmaster at their word about it, it does sound promising; self-lubricating, makes cleaning easier and, according to them, doubles the barrel's service life.

If that is all true its certainly not a downside.

if it calls to you brother, do it. i think the SCAR is snappier for about the same price iirc.

The ACR was built to be modular, the folding stock could be added in seconds. I bought a basic for $2100 in the first week it was on sale. There is not an "improved" version. The enhanced version has a folding stock and a handguard with rails. I can add those parts when available (the enhanced just came out).

With my LWRC that I sold, if I wanted to go to 6.8mm. I would have to buy another upper for around $1800. At that point, I might as well buy another rifle. With the ACR, I would need a barrel and a bolt. Probably just $600-700. I would think that the barrel's would come with the gas system attached?

The ACR is getting ripped on by people who don't own one. It's the same price as a high end ACR. I wouldn't trade it for anything. If you offered me a free ACR or a high-end AR, I would take another ACR.

I'm looking forward to adding 6.8 and 7.62x39 to my rifle.

I was not ripping on it. I was just pointing out that for $2,100 you'd think it would come with a 7:1 twist rifling vs the 1:9 twist and have barrels readily available to swap in it since a big selling point of the gun is its quick change tool-less barrel swap capabilities? Thats all. I still love it but just not for $2,100 at the moment.

Its just an opinion so please dont take offense. You got an awesome rifle and I am truly jealous.

As for the enhanced ACR. Call me weird but I actually prefer the longer basic ACR handguards better. They cover more of the hot gas tube and barrel and you can still ad rails if needed.

The ACR is heavier than I thought. It's still pretty cool. Neat in it's own way.
I'm not all in a hurry to get one though it would be nice.

I honestly still prefer the SCAR.
