    Fulton Titan .308 Upper Questions

I've been doing research on building a .308 AR and have all but settled on the DPMS platform.

Of those, I'm liking the Fulton upper with its side charging handle.

From what I've read, there are some challenges with various combinatons of .308 uppers and lowers, even when they share the same platform style.

FTF's, FTE's seem to be common.

Anyone have this upper that you've mated to a lower? If so, what works well, feeds reliably, etc.

Also, what trigger assembly is a good one? I'm interested in a crisp, 2 stage trigger that works well.

Finally, how about mags? Do the new 10/20 PMAGS's work well with the DPMS style lowers?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Regards,

    John

I use a Timney single stage in mine, But if you have your heart set on a 2 stage, any 2 stage will work. With the one exception being the JP 2 stage. It's recommended that you use the factory hammer spring instead of the after market one since it usually has a problem igniting the primers on the .308's.
Im still messing around with the correct mag's for mine, Im going to try DPMS mags next, and if those don't work PMAGS, then C-products. I'll try and keep you updated when they come in.
But I being poor, have only my dreams. I have spread my dreams under your feet. Tread softely, because you tread on my dreams.

        Fulton uppers

        Thanks for the reply.

I know you're having a lot of issues with feeding from the magazine.

Interestingly enough, I called Fulton today to see what lower they recommend with their upper and magazines to avoid the FTF and FTE problems.

Of course they recommend theirs, which isn't easy to get here in SoCal. They also recommend the DPMS brand specifically, which I don't think we can get at all.

They claim that anything else may result in problems. I asked which magazines they recommend with their lower and they said the only ones they tested and recommend are theirs.

BTW, how are the cases ejecting? Since they use the side charger without a deflector, do they ping backwards?

Curious on this as I'm a lefty.

        Regards,

        John

Are you running the Titan upper? Which one and what magazines are you using?

Also, which trigger assembly and lower parts kit are you using?

Finally, since the Fulton upper doesn't have a case deflector, how are they deflecting? Curious as to this as I'm a lefty. Saw a YouTube video where they seemed to eject a bit more rearward than my standard AR, but it was hard to tell.

            Thanks again.

            Regards,

            John

Yes on Titan upper. I think they call it the Titan lite now. The one with the18.5" chromelined barrel.

Ive only run DPMS mags in this so far. I have some Pmag but havent had time to block them yet.

They do eject at a reward angle, I'll have to pop a few rounds off left handed and get back to you on that one. The fulton mags I actually ordered off of the web site they they shipped directly to CA, they will ship anything to CA as long as it's not a reciever of any sort. The DPMS lowers are the only ones not allowed in CA everything else not listed should be fair game.

Thanks. I noticed that Fulton sells a $20 chip deflector add-on for the Titan. Ugly, as it bolts to the top rail, but should be very functional if I needed it.

                      Fulton

Well, after mulling it over the past few days and doing more research, I decided to be conservative and just go with a Fulton lower and Fulton upper.

This way, they are guaranteed to fit, function, and feed properly.

Fulton has a excellent deal on their Titan, .308 lowers. Normally, $349, they are on sale for $339, and INCLUDE their $95 lower parts kit w/2 stage trigger.

Very nice. J&J Armory is within walking distance of my office, and they have the Assault Weapons license that Fulton wants to ship Lowers to CA.

So, I'll place the order tomorrow and swing by J&J for the DROS.

I'm still toying with the exact configuraton of the upper, but will likely go with their LITE that has the 18.5" barrel.

Thanks for all the advice and assistance.

                      Regards,

                      John
