SKS: Leapers scope, Choate mount, which rings?

Hi, I have an SKS with one of the old Leapers scope kits from CheaperThanDirt. I want to get a Choate mount with weaver rings. I think I need 1" rings for the scope but aren't sure. Also, I saw that weaver rings come in low, medium, high, etc. Any suggestions?

A scope does not belong on a SKS IMO. The stock sights are the way to go. You not going to be shooting past 200-300yds with it anyway.

      My .02

Since you have to D&T for the Choate mount and relieve a lot of wood from the stock.

I would go with a side rail and mount. that way you can dismount it and have the irons
      check these guys out.

That is: If you are going to keep it. If you plan on selling it at some point then I would leave it as is. Holds value better.

Side rail is the only way to mount an optic on a Russian rifle. IMO.
With a gunsmith mounting the rail. But these guys do everything here so maybe one can help you out?

I have an extra plastic stock and was gonna use that with the scope so I could preserve the original stock. I don't think I'll sell it anytime soon. It's a great plinker.
