    Spike's upper, send it back?

I just got my Spike's MidLength Upper from AIM Surplus and there's some weird streak from the forward assist to the handguard where the finish is messed up and coming off.
There are spots down to the bare metal.

Can I send this back and have them send me a new one?

I'm kind of bummed because this is my first AR build and I wanted to go shooting tomorrow.

The only people who would know if you can send it back is Spikes. I would guess they'd replace it. Does it bother you that much?

Spike's? But I got it from AIM?

      And no, well yes.
I mean I know it's a rifle and it's going to have scratches, but not the finish already peeled off and getting worse out of the box.
I wouldn't mind if I had done this to it, but I take good care of my stuff and when I spend hundreds of dollars on something new, I want it to be new.

I would call about it first thing in the morning, sucks that you will not be able to use it tomorrow. That should not of gone out from Spikes or from AIM

I've never dealt with AIM, but Spikes has always been good to me. You could even go on ARF, Spike's has an Industry page there. I am sure Tom (Badazzar) would hook you up. If you call I'd try my luck with Tom. On AIM's website it says they will accept a return if you pay shipping both ways and it is within 30 days and they have the right to evaluate the product. If it does really bother you though then you should definetly get a new one.

              I emailed Spike's and AIM.
So we'll see what's up with it.

I'm not too picky, but I can see where it could lead to serious problems with the finish later.
And yeah I saw AIM's return policy before I ordered, but figured it should be fine since so many people have gotten these with good results.

I am definitely not going to agree to paying shipping and a 3% return fee to my credit card for AIM though.
Hopefully Spike's can help me out. I've heard they have great customer service. (Although to be fair, when I called AIM when this was backordered, the guy on the phone was really nice.)

                    Thanks for the reassurance everybody.
Just making sure I wasn't out of line somehow with this.

You should give them a call. Email might be too slow since its easier to ignore.

No way you should pay anything... They sent faulty product... I would have them send you an RMA (basically a prepaid shipping label). I would think Spikes would be 1st to contact

Its good to hear that you finally got your upper but sucks to hear about the finish problem. I didnt have that problem upon opening my package. Thats why I kinda just went with ordering straight from spikes just in case anything happened, there wont be a middle man and just deal with spikes directly. Sorry to hear about the problem though. Hope everything works out for you.

p.s. where were you gonna shoot, im trying to find a place/range to finally test out my bad boy

                              Where are you located Diesel?

I was going to shoot at Angeles because it's cheap and near my work and then Raahauge's because it's 30 miles away in Corona, but you can shoot steel ammo. (But it's more than twice as much as Angeles fee.)

I live in Orange County, about ten minutes from RifleGear.
