Does the STAG A2 buttstock have the trapdoor compartment in it? I have tried search but my fu is weak today.

I believe this one uses a trap door in the back just like any other Mil Spec Butt stock.

A true A2 stock, any A2 stock is supposed to have a trapdoor.

yes, Stag's have a trapdoor. No matter how I fold up my cleaning kit, I can't get it to fit though. But it holds most of it.

Not all trap doors are created equal. I have three different A2 buttstocks, each with a different kind of trap door.

The best is good ol' Colt: The plastic is denser, the plunger is made out of metal and all the moving parts are smooth and non-wobbly.

Next best is RRA: the plastic is less dense than the Colt and they use less of it. The plunger is plastic, and the fit is much looser than the Colt.

Worst is some un-named POS stock I bought for $20. It's door isn't even close to "mil-spec": instead of a hinge and a spring loaded plunger, the door, hinge, and clasp are all one piece of cheap, thin plastic. Oh, and the plastic cracks way to easy.

This is good material here. I will look into getting a Colt one if I can, unless someone here praises the STAG one as parallel.

The Stag A2 that I bought had a metal butt trap door and is nicer than the RRA that had a plastic door and a little less attention to detail on the butt pad as a whole.

I would buy the Stag, unless you can get a deal on a Colt somewhere, but don't pay for the name, it's just a butt stock.

I Seriously doubt that colt actually makes the butt stocks themselves its a LOW BID thing.

But when purchasing such a part make sure that the trapdoor opens before you pay for it.

Perhaps, perhaps not. I wouldn't be suprised if Colt made them or subbed them out.

LOW BID with high standards in the spec beats out LOW BID with lowered, cheapened standards.
