    Locking Your AR

How do you guys store your AR's? I live in an apt. in Pasadena, so space is a premium and I don't have money for a long gun case (and I only have one long rifle).

With that in mind, any suggestions on how to store/lock up my AR?

I was thinking I could store in a "Bore Store" bag from Brownells (its for long storage with rust prevention) and then put it in a plastic case of some kind (suggestions, I know of pelican...but too much $$$), and then finally lock my case to something.

    Thanks.

i store mine in a big 5 $20 special case along side my M24/47.
It sits upright on the side of my step-dads safe(he doesn't live with me), in the bed of my truck. Sometimes I leave it in the cab of my truck at night because I can't have it in my apartment..

Case has a Master lock or 2 on it at all times.

This AR will be kept at home!! No way am I driving around LA and Pasadena with that in my trunk!

If I use the "Bore Store" and then put in a plastic rifle case with foam, will I have any issues with breatheability and rust???

        Thanks.

IIRC you also used to leave your back door unlocked until local LE paid a welfare call.

You could get something like this - and bolt it down:

I have no kids or strangers to worry about... the bedroom door stays locked at night....

How is the sentry safe bolted down? If I move, I would have to fix the holes where it was bolted...

Just leave it in a soft case and throw it upright in your closet, under a bed etc. Realistically there's absolutely no reason to lock up any portable case. They all can be hacked through in a matter of seconds and your whole case and rifle would be gone. I leave all my ARs lying in my closet, some in cases, some not. I don't have kids so that's not a concern. If someone came into my house looking to steal things, having it in a gun case, vs not really makes no difference since they'll run off with it either way.

I also live in a apartment, and I can't my sixteen gun fireproof safe because it will go through the floor (live on the 3rd floor). But last year I bought a small five gun safe that weighed 127 lbs, has an electronic keypad with double lock, and costs about $300. The safe is bolted to the wall in my closet, and I swear, it was the best investment I have ever purchased.

one could use the setup in the house as well as the car. in the house bolt to the wall studs

I see...but for over $200, I rather buy a pelican case and lock that up

Is there any good case for like $50 or under??
I figure I just keep it in the Brownell's Bore Store and then place that into a plastic case (without foam so that it can breathe).

Then just lock the case to the wall.
