    Textured my stock

Well I textured my stock. I didn't want to texture it too much and I like how it came out. Here's the first smooth "base coat".

    and here's the final product.

Next step is painting the stock. I can't decide between black or a fde type color. What do you guys think?

you have what appears to be a SS barrel and action, so it must be an hunting type rifle, try a camo pattern paint job.
That may be a CG first!

Is that a cheek weld wrapped around the butt? Any info on that would be appreciated, I need one for a rifle.

Looks good, I prefer a more aggressive texture. The whole process really is much easier than one would think. Nice job though. I vote for an FDE scheme.

A cheek weld is the relationship between the weapons gunstock and your cheek. A cheek should "weld" to the gunstock in exactly the same place each time you bring the sights up. The word your looking for is Cheek pad or stock pad. The one on there now is a eagles industries shooters stock pack. I also have a tac ops stock pad which is almost the same as the ei one except the tac ops one has 8 loops for ammo storage instead of 5
