I have heard complaints about the cheekweld on the original sage. I also have heard complaints about the Sage pistol grip not "feeling right"

Thats why I decided on the Mod1 Sage, but then I came accross this deal, and to top it off it came with a scope mount, which a Sage does not.

That's why I would only invest in a JAE-100 if I was planning to make the M1A a dedicated sniper platform.

One day, when I move back to Canada, I definately plan on picking up a nice Norinco M14 for $380 dollars, have some barrel work done and putting it in a JAE-100 with a 5.5x ACOG - just because.

yeah good choice, but I would just get a bolt action Savage in Mcmillan or a FN SPR in Mcmillan for my dedicated sniper rifle. As for the 5.5x ACOG... they are so sweet! I saw one at a local gun shop mounted on a AR-10... pricey at $1600 but I am sure worth every penny.

Do I plan to put my IR illuminator and laser on my EBR? No I do not, but if I wanted to I could. That's the beauty of rails. Plus rails look cool (to me) and I am also into the looks.
SOCOM can get to 300 yd and more, I don't need a long barrel for that.

God don't even get me STARTED. You have no idea how hard it is for me right now, talking myself out of buying one for my 6.5 Grendel AR build. I am DEAD SET on getting an ACOG for one of my rifles at some point and it is painful to keep holding out on it.

This Grendel is to be my baby. Possibly my ONLY AR I build, so I want to make it perfection and I cannot get this ACOG fixation out of my head. Something about that 5.5x ACOG mounted on a 24" AWS 6.5 Grendel AR makes me giddy.

As I said ... so hard to stop myself, so easy to justify the purchase.

like i said I don't plan to mount my NV equipment on my rifle, but if i wanted to i could as I have rails. is it illegal or somthing to use 300 yard Night vision equipment on a 22" barrel? I was not aware that it was, and if it is I won't do it

No, but IIRC, in CA it's illegal for us to use IR illumination on our rifles in conjunction with NV. Seeing as how your in Free America, it's prolly OK over there.

                BTW, I don't care much for M1A's, but thats a kicka55 rifle.

                    Not true.

You cannot use a sniper scope that requires the use of an infra-red light source. Having an IR light or laser on a rifle that has an aimpoint or EOTech with AN/PVS-14 is perfectly legal. It is not required for use.

Also, having a headmounted unit like the AN/PVS-7 with IR laser or light source is fine too.

Went to a local range to try her out.

I was anxious and in a hurry as I had to get back home by 3pm so I forgot a lot of stuff such as chairs and silouettes. Duke was suppose to go too but he was out partying too hard the night before =)

Only lane open was the 50 yarder so I had no choice but to use that one. I was not worried about zero'ing since it was at 50 yards and I would have to re-zero at 100 anyways. I just wanted to see my groupings.

All I can say is wow! She shot tighter than I thought, I never knew South African ammo could be that accurate =) I am really liking this stock now. Now I have to go re-zero her at 100 yards.

Dirt Road on the way to the range, it is nice having a 4x4.

Got this case at Cabela's for $65. Not what you would call high quality but it has a lock and it does the job.

Like I said I forgot to bring tables and chairs but at least I had this moving matt in my truck

I also forgot sillouettes, but lucky I found these white stickies in my truck =) I made that "X" with my knife and was aiming for the X. Here you can see I am almost zero'd. The lower group (the one with about 12 rounds touching) is about the size of a quarter. This may not be impressive to some of you but it is the best grouping I have ever got at 50 yards with South African ever.

M-14 are the great, nice looking smoke pole, I don't blame you for not staying in RPK. I'm gonna bail asap too...So where is a good place round Vegas to blast, I use to go out to the desert during SOF show and shoot but vegas has grown so much/ is there still good places like BLM around vegas to shoot? with out driving half way to Utah? I'd like to know for Shot show also? B2B

boulder city pistol and gun club is open to the public. each individual has his own pit and pits vary between 25-100 yards. you can rapid fire all you want and you are your own rangemaster... if you find yourself firing faster than one round per second maybe you can give yourself a "timeout" to remind you of home =)

you can also be a member here if you want, membership is only $50 a year and that gives you access to the member ranges which goes up to 1000 yards.

another good place, and it's free is the desert south of the strip on las vegas blvd. head south about 10 miles past the strip, go past prima towards jean, lots of places to shoot out there and they all have backstops.

I just cant agree with the comment that the JAE stock looks factory. I dunno you all be the judge here.

The only thing that is not the same anymore is that I have added the smith enterprise scope mount!!! I finally found a mount that will hold zero!!!!

I lot of people like the way the the JAE looks. It would be no fun if we all agreed. To me the JAE still looks like a M14 but with a wanna be PSG1 buttstock. Today at the range this one old guy asked me what my rifle was and I told him it is basically just a semi-auto M14 but with a different stock, he had to look a third time to realize it was a M14 (M1A).
