Unsure why you'd be using an AR for home defense anyway... I hope you don't have neighbors, because when one of your rounds kill them, you're not going to like prison much. stick w/ a shotgun and handgun for hd..and leave the AR for true zombie killing/shtf.

I agree with you, I don't have neighbors close. HG or shoty are great for HD

Shotgun and handgun rounds tend to overpenetrate more than .223. Ever wonder why LE made the move from submachine guns to the 5.56mm?

Very true, The .223/5.56 will fragment and tumble. My 45 will go through walls and into the neighbors house if it's close enough

I'm using rounds that will not over-penetrate. I don't have a handgun suitable for HD and My shotgun has a 28" barrel. Sure I could get a new barrel but I really wanted an AR. HD isn't the reason I got an AR but it's something I can potentially use it for. Thanks for everyone's advice. I'll check out those C Product mags and in the meantime download my mags by 1. Thanks again

best would be buy frangible ammo for HD.

That's exactly what I have. I read a post on some other site where a guy tested .223 and other rounds through drywall to see how much penetration you get. .223 wasn't the winner per-say, but it did better than 00 buck and most handgun rounds.
