M1A Scope Mount

Has anyone used the Leatherwood steel scope mount for the M1A? I picked up a Springfield Loaded today & am looking at mounts. The Leatherwood looks solid & sits pretty low.

Sadlak & ARMS 18 look pretty good also - I've heard stay away from the Springfield mount. Agree?

Once the mount is on it will pretty much stay there, I don't plan on routinely taking it off & on.

I was looking at the one too. I ordered one over Christmas from Impact Guns. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten it yet. If you find a place that has one in stock who would actually ship it to me, let me know.

Most people bad mouth the Springfield 2 point mount, but I've never had a problem with it on 2 different M1As. I use it for load testing off the bags. I doubt I've left it on for more than 50 or 60 rounds at a time, but when I've used it it has never come loose, shifted zero or gave me any reason to complain.

Dont use the Springfield it is a pile and it will loosen up on you every time you shoot it.

I have the smith enterprise mount and it is worth every penny I paid for it

I went for the Smith Enterprise Model 2006 mount. I haven't mounted the scope yet so can't give my report. But if it's good enough for use in Afghanistan it's good enough for me.

Sadlak mount has my vote. You can have a range of choice between price and weight. And Mike is a great guy to deal with. Smith Enterprise is way too busy with their military contracts to give a sh*t about civilian order and their customer service reflects that attitude. Mike on the other hand will take care of you.

I agree with the last statement. I called Mike Sadlak a couple of weeks ago and talked to him personally. He was a very helpful guy and ordered an aluminum mount (tuition raise at school ). I got it in yesterday and put it on today. It fits perfect with my M1A and has a good solid feel. I am definitely going to buy the op rod and TiN piston from him next month.

I went with the Sadlak - Brownells has the aluminium for $115.00. Good instructions on their website. The Leatherwood looks pretty good also & is made from steel. It's 2 separate pieces are connected by the weaver base and one of the selling points is that it has a wide range of adjustment for out of spec receivers.

The consensus is the Sadlak and SE's are the recommended mounts for the M1A/M14 weapon systems.

The A.R.M.s 18 is a great mount also. It blends in with the lines of the receiver so it looks like it is a part of the rifle rather than bolted on. The down side is you cant use the irons with the scope on like you can with the Smith or Sadlak.
