    A carbine length gas system with a 14.5" barrel is ok, with a 16" barrel it's overgassed. Either way you should be fine, if you have enough money to put thousands of rounds downrange then you'll be able to afford a few parts here and there to replace.

      Sorry, I misread the post about where you'll be using it.

      Regarding the parts issue, people are totally overthinking this.

      If you're just using this for recreational purposes then it's not an issue. If a part breaks at the range you replace it (if you have spares with you) or you go home. No big deal.

      If you're going to use it for self-defense, carbine classes or competition, then you should be tracking your round count and replacing high-wear parts before they reach their service lives. For example at 10k rounds I'd replace your fire control group, buffer spring and everything in your BCG except the carrier. If you're doing your pre-emptive maintenance as you should be then parts breakage should be less of a concern.
