I started another post on questions I have with my first AR build but I had another question along a little different line. Basically I'll be building an AR, in order to learn how it all works, cause it will be fun to build, and because I'm poor and have to save up for it. I've been to a couple of shops near me, Cold War Shooters and Ammo Bros, and both places are reasonably priced but mentioned they will have deals during the gun show in May. Can anyone tell me what kind of deals to expect? I wanted to buy the lower first at the gun show, but if the deal isn't too big on a lower, I may want to get a better deal on an upper during that time and then get the lower later. My basic question is what kind of deals do they normally have at the gun show? I'm looking at a lower that is regularly $150ish and I want a Stag 1H upper that in stores is around $599ish. Thanks

Gun Show AR Deals

Has anyone bought an upper and lower from a gun show? I'm just trying to get a ballpark idea of how much to save by then. If no one has, can anyone refer me to some good shops who sell black rifles near the Inland Empire. I'm ok with a bit of a drive if it's worth it. -
Well, if you don't mind the drive, definetly go check out Rifle Gear in O.C. They are right off of Harbor Drive and the 405. If for some reason you ever find youself in Oceanside, Quantico Tactical has an awesome deal on a complete RRA upper. Comes with charging handle and complete bolt carrier group for $475. I bought one for myself and one for a friend.Comment

Quantico really has the best deal on these that I have found. Plus the guys that work there are really cool and extremely helpful.Comment

FYI peach state guns can probably get you a cmmg plinker which are 599 and are usually in near perfect condition.Comment

Definately look at the various online retailers and sponsers of this sight to buy everything except the lower. When you buy from an out of state store online you don't have to pay tax. Which on a $600 part is another $50-$60. You can get lowers for around $100 and lower at the gun shows."The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who are not."

I still have yet to find as good of a deal as Quantico Tactical has. A complete Rock River Arms Upper with charging handle and complete bolt carrier for $475. Even with tax it's less than the others.
As for online retailers, www.tacticalcity.com has some really great deal on rifle kits minus the lower. Check those out if you don't like the $475 RRA deal from Quantico.Comment

delton has complete upper kits with everything but the striped lower for $465.00 and that means everything complete upper with bcg and charging handle, collapsable stock, buffer lpk, pistol grip i have purchased two and havent had any problems at allComment

Is that RRA upper on sale at $475 or is that their regular price? I probably wouldn't be buying an upper until June so I want to know if it will be the same then. Thanks for everyone's advice. Since the Del-ton is so cheap it makes me wonder. Is it actually a good upper or should I just save a bit more for a stag or RRA?Comment
-
That is their regular price for the RRA upper. Del Ton makes an "ok" product, but not as good of quality as the RRA. I purchased a Del Ton A2 upper but I did not want to use their bolt carrier group or charging handle. If you decide to go Del Ton, at least get a good bolt carrier group. I am using a spare Stag BCG with my Del Ton and haven't had any problems.Comment

At the last Costa Mesa gun show Riflegear had lowers for something like $89 (about $125 out the door). As for the upper, a coworker bought a 16 inch Del-Ton rifle kit ($465) with zero problems after shooting over 1000 rounds. That set up should be right around $600.Comment

I would get one of those If I was in your shoes. It comes with quality stuff from a reputable manufacture AND it comes with a upgraded buffer.
ok well I would wait and get in on the midlength buy coming out next week midlength>carbine by about 10,000,000.Comment
