    Citadel Barrels

    Hey Everyone,

I wanted to get some views on Citadel Barrels. I have heard that pre-2000 they were pretty shotty at times but since then have become pretty solid.

I also read somewhere that they are made by Krieger Barrels. What do you guys think?

    Thanks in advance.

*PS - I have spent a fair amount on Google and Calguns using search on this topic.*

I'll try to find the link but I remember reading a couple people saying that Citadel is Krieger's economy brand... however we all know how many "experts" there are on the internet. I'll see what I can dig up.

Just heard about this brand as well, was thinking of getting one for my AR15. Only 120.

My local gun shop told me they are made Krieger. I know Citadel produce great quality barrels for manufacturer surplus.

I ran a Citadel barrel on my AR before I sold it. At 200yards, I was able to hit the targets with LMT front sights and a Colt carry handle. The barrel is made solid, and I was pleased with it.

Here is picture of it, not that you can tell but oh wells,

Krieger makes button-rifled barrels (as opposed to single-point cut-rifled barrels) under the Criterion name. Never heard of Citadel.

Good stuff have on a carbine 2-3000 rounds through it and it shoots fine. Great barrel and you can find them raw without the gas port for $70 and for $105 drilled and duracoated black......If you know where to look

I have a Citadel 7.62x39 AR barrel I bought from a fellow calgunner (screenname: JohnnyUSA). I was weary at first because the barrel was $99 with free shipping, but it has done it's job for me and doesn't appear to have any problems. The finish on it was a tad thick and my gas block wouldn't slide over it, but a little bit of rotating the gas block around got it to slide right on.
