Mag Falls Out When I pull The Trigger!!?

Dpms LR-.308 upper on CMMG lower put together by Cold War Shooters. They sold to me with a crappy C-products mag. The BB is nice and tight. When I live fire or dry fire the mag falls out when I pull the trigger 50% of the time. Also falls out when 20% of the time when I release the bolt. Havent had a chance to try any other brand of magazine yet. Any advice?

i have a raddlock and noticed if i losen the mag release per instructions (4 turns). my pmags fall out first shot. so i do 3 turns instead

OP: That's amazing... well, but not. Strange. Make sure you're BB is nice and tight.

Uhhh... not you don't loosen it so you're mags fall out or so that you have a detachable mag. Okay good.

do you hear a "snap" when you insert the mag... you know the noise that the mag catch makes when it locks into the mag??? because if you dont the mag is not inserted all the way, or its being stopped by something. You could try locking the bolt back then inserting the mag, if that dont work pull the back take down pin, pivot the upper away from the lower a bit and inserting the mag. in any event something is wrong, you could try different mags but id go back to seller and make sure they understand that it is not ok to sell you incorrect or defective products

I tightened up the bullet button pretty good already and that did not help. Coldwarshooters said I could mail them the mag and they would mail a DPMS mag if/when they got one. This is my first rifle but I take everything to an experienced smith (independence armory in petaluma) I think I will crank down the BB some more if possible and see what happens. It was mighty embarrassing at the range when It was happening. Had a Army buddy standing behind me telling me what to do since it was my first time learning A2 sights and he thought I was just a tard that couldn't put a mag in all the way. Thanks the a the advice guys.

when I say Army buddy I mean he was in the Army and is my buddy. Obviously you can tell by the text I was never in the Army. I do have 5 kids and 12 dogs so I kinda have battle training every day.

The mag catch is my first guess.

Take it out and try to bend that thing in more. You can simply use a hammer to do it.

I had the same problem once. If I turned the rifle upside down, grabbed onto the mag, and shake it, the mag would come undone. I ended up by fixing that problem by doing what I just mentioned.

The mag catch might simply be just a little off angle. You need to bring that in more so that it can properly catch onto the mag.

Give that a try. If it doesn't work, let me know.

Actually, try different mags.

Put the mag in, turn rifle upside down over a bed, grab magazine only and try to shake it off.

Does the rifle fall onto the bed? Does it do this with all the mags?

Try putting the magazine in with the bolt locked back. Sometimes with the bolt forward, the bullets in the mag keep the mag from fully latching.

On the Armalite AR10 system, when using regular AR15 mag catches, this was a problem. The Armalite AR10 mag catch was just a little beefier even though it doesn't look like it and it always gives positive retention. I too suspect the mag catch more than the magazines.

The mag catch has nothing to do with being a "California safety device." That part is in all AR's.

On the Armalite AR10 system, when using regular AR15 mag catches, this was a problem. The Armalite AR10 mag catch was just a little beefier even though it doesn't look like it and it always gives positive retention. I too suspect the mag catch more than the magazines.

Same problem in my N6. At first I used an AR15 mag catch but I could pull out the mag by hand. I switched to an AR10 mag catch, problem solved.

Ah, this is what google turned up...

As a note the AR10 mag catch has a slight "bend" to it. It allows the catch to set farther in the magwell, this catches the non-parallel mag sidewalls better as it sets in the parrlele walls of the mag well.
10 right, 15 left, notice the slight bend.
