What makes the rifle that everyone buys here differ from the Saiga that is listed as a assault rifle under the AK listings?I'm new to the state and just get confused with the laws.

The original Saiga (the one on the ban list) was imported by Kalashnikov and is inscribed thusly on the receiver. The newer Saiga's are imported by RAA (Russian American Armory?) and are completely legal. Unfortunately some gun stores do not realize this or bother to learn the laws, so the STILL will not bring completely legal Saiga's into CA... but most will. Buy one, you won't be sorry!------------------------------------------------------------

Saiga's are built at the actual arsenal that military AK's are manufactured. Very good quality. My Saiga 7.62x39 has never jammed, mis-fed, or mis-fired.
Awsome gun that is totally affordable.

Yup, my kalashnikov marked Saiga in .308 is a RAW. It's been tough trying to find a shop that can do a full blown "evil" upgrade due to it's status as a RAW.
